Russian media: Chinese cars must pay attention to ensure the supply of spare parts
2023-06-25
Reference news network reported on June 19, according to the Russian "Izvestia" website reported on June 14, the survey found that Russia's auto maintenance services are facing the challenge of China's auto parts shortage. The situation involves, first of all, the emergence of new Chinese car brands on the Russian market. Relevant industry representatives pointed out that the warehouse of the repair station is only 20% to 30% of the reserve. Experts believe that railway transportation is a factor affecting the stability of parts imports; Russian Railways said that 98% of the goods can be delivered on time. In addition, the special situation of Chinese manufacturers may also have an impact on the maintenance time and quality.
Ilya Plisov, a member of the council of the Russian Federation of Automotive Services, said: "A large number of Chinese cars are entering Russia, which means that the work of stockpiling parts has become more complicated. It is difficult to give an exact proportion of spare parts in storage, but the maintenance of new models in China does face component challenges."
A source in the auto repair industry said that the current stock of auto parts in China has reached 50% to 60% of the required number. Another source pointed out that there is no shortage of parts in Russia for earlier imported Chinese car brands, but some new brands entering the Russian market have only 30 percent of the required number of parts in stock.
In the past year, with the growth of Chinese car sales in Russia, the demand for auto parts has also risen sharply. "There is no time for domestic warehouses to replenish new parts," Plissov said.
Another problem is that some Chinese automakers change the parts they use, and parts catalogues are compiled at will. As a result, previously purchased parts are not always suitable for new models.
"Finding parts for a particular model is a challenge for parts distributors and owners, and the solution is often a bit of a lottery," Plissov noted.
According to reports, the Fit Service auto repair center also told this newspaper that there are parts matching challenges.
Alexei Ruzanov, technical director of the center, said that there is a lack of necessary catalog manuals, as well as accurate technical information about which parts are needed for specific models and brands. In addition, parts and parts may not fit each other and lack relevant guidance or instructions.
According to data provided by the Russian Federation of Asian Industrial Entrepreneurs, Chinese cars accounted for 75.2% of Russian imports in May and 46% of new car sales in Russia.
Russian automotive expert Sergei Herlapach pointed out: "Only when the number of cars sold reaches a certain level, to ensure that maintenance services are profitable, Chinese manufacturers will set up supporting service centers." But the size of the Russian market is still relatively limited and it's not a priority for them."
